Those Flirty 30's

While cleaning out one of my bins of fabric three days ago, I found a huge baggie marked 300+ charm squares.  All of them were 30's prints, mainly Aunt Grace, but there are some that I can't place.

Quilters Confession:
I have *no* idea where I got these charm squares.  I honestly don't remember ever purchasing them.

I'm not one for 30's prints really, but these are kind of cute and are really growing on me.

Fast Forward:
Staring at the bag, I just felt the absolute need to create something.  Since we're going to visit my Father in Law and Stepmother in Law in 2 weeks, I figured I'd make a gift for them.

A Pinterest minute later, I found the pattern.

Two hours later, I had a quilt top.
Another hour and I had the pieced backing. By then it was 4:30 in the morning so I went to bed for 2 hours.

Then, I quilted it up. All that's left is to bind. I'll do that tomorrow night while watching some Netflix.

Oh.. those tumblers are truly addictive.  Used my MSQC charm tumbler template and cut around 108 of them for the backing. Just pieced them together randomly, grabbed two and just stitched them up.

Quilters Confession #2:
I still have a ton of 30's prints left. Barely made a dent in that baggie.

Early Birthday Gift

I got an early birthday present. :) I've spent hours just looking through it deciding on the first project to make from it.

So far, these are my favorite projects that I hope to make this year.  Ambitious huh?

Harvest Star, Delectable Mountains,  Amish Inspired Shoofly,  Prairie Baskets,  X's and O's, Feedsack Flags, Use A Napkin Only For Your Mouth (and the best part is I have a charm pack I've been saving for the perfect project. So I'll use that for this project)

Best Birthday Gift Ever

So what if it's not really my birthday till February?  My husband is awesome. :)

I've loved the San Fransisco 49ers since forever, and he took me to see one of their last home games at Candlestick!!

No more cutting Hexagons!

So I'm a lucky lucky girl. 

It might be Fathers Day, but my hubby got *me* a present. He bought it on EBay - it's a Creative Memories punch. Makes 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 inch hexagons. And he also got me the smaller one 3/4 inch and 1 inch. :)

Yahoo!!  No more hand cutting for me. Just slide the paper in and punch.  I have a ton of file folders that are too big, and I had to trim them up so there's a ton of extra manila around.  :)

Well, at least they won't be UFOs for long.

Seriously - don't laugh.  I have DEADLINES for these!!

This one is going to a friend who is retiring on Friday the 21st.  Yes, you read that right.  This coming Friday.  I've made 4 of these blocks - thank you to Missouri Star Quilt Co for the amazing and easy tutorial.  When it's done (no later than Friday!!)  It'll be 52x52.  This picture was taken before I added sashing - so it's bigger now.

And this one is for a good friend of mine who just had a little girl.  Since I took the picture, I've evened up each side and added a 3 inch light green border.  Now all I need to do is quilt it.  It's all sandwiched.  My idea is to quilt the babys name in the purple tumblers and loose stipple in the bunny.  Once it's done the quilt is getting shipped off to the adorable girl in Ireland.

Sunflower Table Runner - UFO Done

Given to my Grandmother yesterday. :)  She LOVED it. 

Progress on Mom's Christmas Gift

Making some progress on my mom's Christmas gift.  I figured that if I started it early enough it might actually be done by Christmas.

So, while Netflix was on and I had Magnum PI on, I pressed all the seams open on the back of these blocks.

Moms favorite colors are blues and browns.  Found the pattern in one of the "Easy Quilt" magazines - will look for the specific edition later.

Baby Shower Gift - Complete and Ready to Gift

So one of my friends is having her very first baby in a month and the shower's coming up soon.  I let her pick the pattern and colors and I made her a quilt.

Since the little girl is not yet named because the parents are still deciding on names, on the label I just put a generic Baby XXXXX.

All completed on my tiny Brother sewing machine. This was the machine that I got when my Singer went on the fritz and I needed a backup for my backup.  So it's not the best quilting job in the world, but when you're attempting to quilt something this large in such a small throat space, I think it turned out all right.

Measures 52"x52".  So not only is it a good size for a newborn, but also for a toddler to drag around.

A Quilted Wedding Gift

Made a super huge quilt for my friends wedding.  It was quilted by my friend Charisma.

This quilt is about 118"x118".  There's no way that I could have quilted it on my home machine, so I gave it over to the amazingly talented Charisma to work her magic.  And work her magic she did. It's so big that Charisma couldn't actually get the whole thing in the picture.

My friend was so happy to receive the quilt!!  She said it was the only actual gift she received for the wedding.  Everyone else gave her money. I wanted to give her something nice, and I hope this counts as something nice.

Hostess Gift

We got invited last minute to a Memorial Day party, so I wanted to surprise our friend with an apron. I made her one for Christmas since she LOVES to cook, and I know she adores the Broncos, so this is another apron for everyday use. And I made it reversible.

I can't wait to see her face! She's got no idea this is coming. :)

Introducing... VALENTINA

So today is Valentines Day, and DH and I don't usually celebrate it at all. Typically we stay in and have a nice meal and that's what I love. We give each other a card and that's usually it.

But today I hopped into this local thrift shop that I typically don't frequent. I've been in there once and for a thrift store I thought it was very expensive. I go in, and look around quick, didn't see anything and then... there she is. They wanted $120 for her, but for DH and I right now that's a *huge* purchase, so I text him a photo of her, and the price and he texts back, "buy it, Happy Valentines Day"

And since today is Valentines Day I thought it was only fitting that her name is now Valentina.
