I can't believe fall is almost here! It's one of my favorite seasons, love the colors of the leaves as they change, the crispness of the air, the crunch of the leaves as you walk through them. Oh I love it.
This weeks theme is: Autumn or Fall

Week 34: 21-27 August
My moms birthday is this week. I keep thinking of ways that we can celebrate her birthday. One year we took her on a trip to Washington DC. Another year we flew her out to Arizona and took her on a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Last year, we took her to see her beloved Jets play live - her first live game ever! And this year, we've been stumped. So the theme of this weeks miniature is "CELEBRATE" or "CELEBRATION" Not just birthdays, not necessarily Christmas or Halloween or Thanksgiving, but anything that you want to CELEBRATE!

Home Quilt: Done! Week 33
Here's Week 33's quilt - DONE. :) It's all about HOME
My DH and I wanted to commemorate the states that we've visited, countries we've lived in (he's from England, and I've lived all over) or visited. He thought what I've already got started would be good, but he thought more colors would be awesome. I've got a map that I've hand embroidered with the dates of the places we've visited, or just me (and he felt a bit left out!)
This is the first miniature quilt of the 50 US states, since we live in NJ - I figured it would be a great start. I've sketched out the states and I'm going to do all of them in miniature form.
I'm going to put the dates, probably embroidered, maybe written, either on the label on the back or on the front that we visited/lived in the state, country or providence.
New Jersey is known as the Garden State (that's why I picked the veggies and fruit fabric), and I love going and picking my own fruit in the summer. There's tons to do here - so if you're not from NJ, it's actually much more than the show Jersey Shore - I promise.
I'm *thinking* of making a double and donating them to the AAQI, but we'll have to see how time allows.
This little quilt measures 8x11 inches. And I freehand sketched the outline of NJ.

Home is where the heart is. Home is where you hang your hat. Tell us this week what your HOME is all about. Of course, in fabric form. :)

My DD (2) Generous Heart
I think I'm raising her right!
DH got sent to Boston for a little over a week. He decided to bring me and our 2 year old DD. On the drive up we stopped in a McDonalds to eat something. DD was hungry and I got a happy meal for her too since I don't eat McDonalds. Both of the Happy Meals had the same toy inside.
Three days later DH was working, and DD and I were in the only "restaurant" somewhat near the hotel - another McDonalds. I ordered her another Happy Meal and I had a water. There was a small girl, maybe 3 or 4 in tears, with her mom in tears too. A man was sitting with them. As we passed by, DD asks me, "Why she sad?" I didn't know.
We sat down, DD opened up her Happy Meal and saw she had another of the same dolls. She looked at me and said, "I have three, I go stop the girl from crying?" And before I knew it, DD was out of her chair, and over to the little girl with the new Happy Meal toy and gave it to her and said, "This for you so you not cry anymore." then DD gave her a big hug and came back to her lunch.
She looked at me, gave me the biggest smile ever and said, "The little girl's not sad anymore Mommy."
I just wanted to share. I'm so proud of my little girl.
